About
Judy's Approach:
As an Occupational Therapist, I specialize in movement, coordination and the skills that a baby/toddler needs for everyday living, which is feeding and self-soothing skills that lead to sleep skills. I focus on the impact of prematurity on the nervous system and muscles as it affects a baby's ability to suck, swallow and breathe. My approach is a combination of Sensory Processing, SOFFI Method trained (Supporting Oral Feeding in Fragile Infants) SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach to Feeding and Techniques and Principles of Baby Led Weaning. I provide feeding therapy within the most natural environment possible, and that is your home. Identifying the Feeding Problem: A feeding behavior does not become a "feeding problem" until a delay in typical development is noted. The goal of the feeding evaluation is to determine the underlying cause for the feeding dysfunction. Identifying the Self Soothing Problem: "The best gift you can give your infant is the gift of self soothing." – Judy Delaware |
